Cuando pensamos en películas de los años 80, una de las primeras que nos viene a la mente es Ghostbusters. Durante el pasar de los años esta ha permanecido como una de las favoritas del público. Por tal razón, el director Paul Feig, se encargó de revivir el filme y regresarlo a la pantalla grande con un nuevo twist. En esta versión el equipo es compuesto por 4 chicas.
En la película, Kristen Wiig y Melissa McCarthy personifican a un par de escritoras desconocidas que escriben un libro en el que aseguran que los fantasmas existen. Varios años después, el personaje de Wiig consigue un prestigioso trabajo en la Universidad de Columbia, hasta que el libro reaparece y es burlada fuera de la academia. La perfecta oportunidad para reivindicarse llega cuando fantasmas invaden la ciudad de Manhattan e intenta salvar al mundo junto a su amiga y sus otras dos compañeras.

Sin embargo, la producción no se llevo acabo solo en la Gran Manzana, sino que también en Boston. “Tenemos suerte que Boston de parece mucho a Nueva York arquitectónicamente”, dijo Sage según Architectural Digest. Los laboratorios de las nuevas Cazafantasmas fueron los escenarios más difíciles de desarrollar, ya que las localizaciones de los mismos debían ser perfectas. Para dar vida al “Higgins Institute of Science”, utilizaron un edificio del “Chinatown” de Boston en donde cubireron todas las ventanas y añadieron un garaje para guardar el famoso Ecto – 1 de las Ghostbusters.
Entre las otras localizaciones que utilizaron para el filme se encuentra el exterior del Castillo de la Universidad de Boston, un edificio estilo Tudor. Sin embargo, el interior que presentan es la Mansión Ames de los 1920, localizada al sur de Boston. Es aquí en donde las chicas tuvieron su primer encuentro con un fantasma. Sin duda alguna, estas ubicaciones dieron un toque especial y único a la película.
Cabe mencionar que el resto del elenco lo componen Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth, Michael Kenneth Williams, Matt Walsh, Andy García, Elizabeth Perkins, Neil Casey y Karan Soni. La dirección del filme está a cargo de Paul Feig, conocido por sus películas “Spy” y “The Heat”. Ghostbusters actualmente está presentándose en los cines de Puerto Rico.
