Después de el huracán María, muchos Puertorriqueños han perdido mueblería de las casas. En el momento de la catástrofe atmosférica, muchos no estaban preparados para recibir la cantidad de agua y vientos que trajo María.
Las alfombras fueron uno de los artículos para el hogar que sufrieron mucho daño. Mientras los hogares de muchos se inundaban, las alfombras cogían agua y, en el momento fueron un elemento clave en absorber agua para que no hiciera mas daños alrededor del hogar. Por otro lado, eso puede ser peligroso pues puede crear moho de alfombras y esto incluye gérmenes y bacterias que pueden causar enfermedades serias. Mas importante, esto causa olores desagradables que pueden invadir el hogar.
Cuando no se puede ir a algún lugar específico para limpiar alfombras luego de una inundación se recomiendan remedios caseros para esto. Mantener las alfombras limpias ya es un reto. Cuando ocurre una catástrofe natural y se inunda el hogar, el reto se hace mas grande.
Inmediatamente, remueva la alfombra del hogar y mantenerla justo afuera de la casa. Con una escoba puede ir limpiando las áreas afectadas de la alfombra, esto ayuda a aflojar el moho para removerlo mas fácilmente. Con una aspiradora elimine las áreas afectadas de la alfombra. Con guantes y una mezcla de jabón de fregar y un poco de agua frote la zona afectada y déjela afuera para que se seque naturalmente con el sol.
Otra manera de limpiar las alfombras, con un limpiador a vapor. Si no tiene acceso a una maquina de vapor puede hacer la misma mezcla de jabón de fregar y un poco de agua. Luego de la limpieza superficial, puede mezclar una taza de blanqueador con un galón de agua y aplicarlo directamente al área afectada. Deje que la solución siente de 10 a 15 minutos. Con una aspiradora o una toalla puede absorber los residuos de esta mezcla en la alfombra. Asegúrese de limpiar todos los utensilios utilizados para prevenir contaminaciones futuras.
Para situaciones futuras, recomendamos guardar las alfombras en armarios o en lugares altos, lejos de áreas donde se puede inundar fácilmente. Mantenerlas limpias a menudo previene gérmenes y bacterias que pueden causar enfermedades serias en el futuro.
