Muchos hoy despertamos con la excelente notificación de Uber dejándonos saber que ya podremos solicitar el servicio desde el Aeropuerto Internacional Luis Muñoz Marín (SJU) en Puerto Rico.
Uber ha sido una bendición para muchos locales que hemos contado con el servicio en momentos de necesidad, así como para turistas quienes acostumbran un servicio seguro, económico y de alta calidad, que en ocasiones los taxistas no proveen. Sin embargo, el servicio no ha triunfado sin lucha, pues desde que llegó el servicio a la isla del encanto, los taxistas han sido agresivos en su oposición a la llegada de la competencia. Éstos, quienes han mostrado su inconformidad en actos violentos en contra de los conductores de Uber a traves de los años, ya no tendrán exclusividad para recoger pasajeros del aeropuerto para llevarlos a su destino final.
«Nos alegra poder operar de forma completa en el aeropuerto y saber que tendrás una forma confiable y fácil para llegar a tu destino una vez aterrices en San Juan» indicó Uber a traves de un comunicado a sus usuarios.
Durante años, tanto Aerostar Airport Holding (administrador del Aeropuerto Internacional Luis Muñoz Marín), como Uber, estuvieron sometidos a una lucha y un largo proceso de negociación al que se oponían los taxistas. Hasta el día de ayer, Uber estaba permitido transportar clientes hacia el aeropuerto, sin embargo, estaban prohibidos a pasar a recogerlos (absurdo, si me preguntas). A partir de hoy, los pasajeros que necesiten solicitar transportación de Uber deberán dirigirse a la planta baja de los terminales A 0 B donde encontrarán un área rotulada como zona de «Ridesharing»
