La compañía Brio causó conmoción en el “Consumer Electronics Show” con el receptáculo completamente nuevo en el mercado que desarrollaron. El receptáculo es inteligente (“smart”), seguro y solamente pasa corriente eléctrica cuando hay un enchufe válido conectado. Este se comunica con los sensores del hogar que detectan peligros de humo o monóxido de carbono. Hay varias compañías que ya ofrecen enchufes de USB en el receptáculo pero este es distinto. SnapPower Charger tiene un diseño que tiene una tapa en la parte baja del enchufe que funciona para conectar el cable USB directamente. Esto elimina el espacio que toman los adaptadores.
El cargador del USB es de un ampere y está integrado a la tapa donde se enchufa el USB. Así el área se mantiene plana. Puedes accesar el puerto del USB (“USB port”) por los lados y ambos pueden ser usados a la vez.
El mercado pidió este tipo de producto ya que, según el CEO de la compañía SnapRays Guidelight, enviaron opciones de distintos productos que estaban pensando desarrollar a 9,000 consumidores potenciales estos escogieron cargador de pared de USB y por mucho. La campaña “Kickstarter” que hicieron tenía como meta $35,000 y con un mes restante al tiempo que se supone que acabara, ya habían recaudado sobre $690,000. Pensaron que les iba a ir bien con la campaña pero jamás se imaginaron un resultado como el que recibieron.
El “SnapPower Charger” ofrece una instalación fácil y no hay que añadirle ningún tipo de construcción o hacerle cambios eléctricos adicionales. El receptáculo usa dos ganchos que transmiten electricidad a los terminales ya instalados.
Dada la recepción que han recibido, el equipo de SnapPower está motivado a traer este producto al mercado y recibir cualquier tipo de reacción que tengan los consumidores. La compañía está trabajando con varios desarrolladores para que los proyectos de ellos incluyan este tipo de receptáculo.
