Marshall’s anunció esta semana sus planes de abrir su tienda online para finales del año. El CEO de TJX Companies, Ernie Herrman, dijo a los inversores durante una conferencia telefónica el miércoles que la compañía está lanzando una fecha de lanzamiento en «la mitad posterior de este año». 
Si bien las ofertas de Marshalls en línea serán ciertamente similares a lo que está disponible en las tiendas, no debe esperar encontrar los mismos productos en ambos lugares: «Consideramos que [la tienda en línea] es complementaria», dijo Herrman. Sin embargo, conocemos al minorista que está fuera de precio y sospechamos que podrá comprar grandes ofertas en ropa, artículos para el hogar y más en línea.
Con la disponibilidad de compras por internet, muchos se preguntarán si esto significaría si se verán cierres de tiendas físicas. De hecho, Herrman y su equipo esperan exactamente lo contrario: que el lanzamiento de las compras en línea de Marshalls atraerá más tráfico peatonal a las tiendas de ladrillo y mortero. Cuando TJ Maxx, lanzó su propia experiencia de compra en línea en 2013, en realidad experimentó un ligero aumento en el tráfico en las tiendas y las «compras cruzadas» en las tiendas físicas y digitales.
